SPRING DAY TIME TRIALS
Wednesday this week, 1st September sees the first day of Spring which I think we are all welcoming with open arms…. GOODBYE WINTER!!!! Therefore it is only fitting that we celebrate our first spring TIME TRIALS in style!!!
Join us on Tuesday, 7th September for our weekly TIME TRIALS at 18h15, but this time with a ‘SPRING TOUCH’!!
A cash bar will be set up under the Gazebo afterwards, snacks will be provided and it’s also time for a shoe draw, so bring your money to purchase tickets for that new pair of ‘new balance’ running shoes to get you started for the new running season!
All new members …this is the perfect time to join in and introduce yourselves!!.. see you all there!!

World’s Deepest Underground Marathon
I had no idea as late as last Thursday that at the weekend I would be running a half-marathon at 3647 meters below ground.
The whole story started when Jo was approached by a certified nutcase called Lloyd Scott about 6 months ago. This is a seriously interesting Englishman who after spending time as a professional footballer (as goalkeeper for the mighty Leyton Orient in the English third tier) and then as a fireman, contracted leukaemia at the age of 25.

I saw an athlete with a t-shirt that read: “Ironman 100% Mental in both sense of the word. It is so true, you have to be a bit psycho to enjoy this level of pain! The race itself is grueling but it is the months of training that takes its toll mentally and physically. There were many days that Meg and I were delirious with fatigue, in fact Angelo had to come and fetch us one day, as we were just too buggered to get home. In the half Ironman brochure there was an article with the head line “ How to finish Ironman without getting a divorce!” My friends consider a 12 hour training week, a rest week. 90kms on the bike is simply a mid week ride. A 3km pool swim is standard and a 3 hour run is often done following a 100km bike the day before. View Full Article »
